Gulf Islands National Seashore & Biloxi
Visited the Gulf Islands National Seashore and rode the bike on all the trails. Spent the afternoon in Biloxi, riding bike, photographing murals, buildings, and the water. Ate at the Half Shell near the Hard Rock Cafe Casino. Visited The Shed restaurant.
Jackson, Mississippi
Photographed the capitol building in Jackson Mississippi. Stopped at the Greyhound Bus Station, the site of the “Freedom Riders” arrest. Drove around Jackson to photograph old buildings. Drove south towards Biloxi, MS.
Tombigbee & Mississippi Capital
Left Columbia, MS and drove to Tombigbee National Forest for a morning hike. Drove to the state capital in Jackson, Mississippi. Photographed the capitol in the evening moon light.
Tishominogo State Park
Went hiking in Tishominogo State Park. Checked out the CCC Camp Trail and then hiked Bear Creek Trail in the morning. In the afternoon, hiked the Saddleback Ridge and Flat Rock trails.
Parker Falls Trail in Sipsey Wilderness
Hiked Sipsey Wilderness National Preserve near Huntsville, AL.
US Space And Rocket Center
Spent the entire day at the US Space And Rocket Center. Had dinner at Bravo Italian nearby.
Little River Canyon / DeSoto State Park
Visited the Little River Canyon National Preserve and DeSoto State Park. Drove along the Little River Canyon Rim Parkway and stopped at various overlooks. Hike down to the Little River Canyon. Stopped at the dam in DeSoto State Park to see the falls. Hiked down to the pond near the falls.
Library Homewood / Ruffner Mountain
Hung out at the Homewood Library. Hiked Ruffner Mountain in the afternoon. Drove to Fort Payne and had a Mexican meal at Los Arcos.

Spent the day at the library in Homewood, AL. Dinner at Dave’s Pizza in Homewood. Avoided the rain.
Cheaha State Park
Went to the overlook at the restaurant in Cheaha State Park. Did a mountain bike ride on Deer Run, Lower Spring, Upper Spring and Cheaha Express trails. Climbed the tower at the highest point in Alabama. Hiked to Bald Rock. Spent time at the Cabins watching the sun set. Drove to Birmingham.
Trip To Cheaha State Park & Goodwater
Passed through Goodwater, and Ashland Alabama on the way to Cheaha State Park.
Montgomery, Alabama - Day 2
Toured The National Monument for Peace and Justice. Visited The Mothers of Gynecology Park. Stopped at the Fight Pickett House. Stopped at the First White House of the Confederacy. Photographed street lights in Montgomery.
Montgomery, Alabama - Day 1
Toured the Montgomery State Capital grounds. Toured the inside of the capital building. Rode the streets downtown and visited MLK’s Baptist church, the Rosa Parks statue, various buildings, Riverfront Park, Union Station. Learned about the “Lightning Route” trolley. Toured the Legacy Museum.
Tallahasee, Florida
Drove to Tallahassee to photograph the capital building and grounds. Dinner at Andrew’s Downtown. Photographed the street lights at Duval and Park streets. Photographed the capital building at night.
Ichetucknee State Park
Hiked in the morning at the north end of Ichetucknee Springs State Park. In the afternoon, kayaked down the Santa Fe towards the south end. One of the most spectacular kayak trips I’ve ever had.
Ginnie Springs
Rented a Kayak and rowed up river four miles. Took photographs of turtles, the scenery, scuba divers and the springs.
First Day At Ginnie Springs, Florida
Hung out at Ginnie Springs Outdoors. Took a bike ride around the park. Dinner at Great Outdoors Restaurant nearby.
Devil’s Mill Hopper Sink Hole
Visited the Devil’s Mill Hopper Sink Hole. Toured the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, FL. Setup camp at Ginnie Springs.
