Hiked Hawksbill Mountain Trail north of Asheville, NC. Coffee at the Miracle Grounds Cafe in Crossnore, NC. Overnight in Asheville, NC.

Drove through tree farms in Virginia and North Carolina. Captured snow capped mountains. Drove to Little Switzerland. Ate dinner in Asheville, NC.

Hiked McAfee Knob in Virginia. Took a lot of photos of people sitting on the edge of McAfee Knob. Discovered a good Italian Restaurant.

Drove from Blacksburg, VA to Cascade Falls in the Jefferson National Forest. Visited a very tiny public library in Pembroke, VA. Had lunch at Riviera Mex near the National Park.

Hiked Crabtree Falls. Drove 30 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Walked the grounds around the Virginia Capital building. Toured the inside of the capital building. Walked the grounds around the John Marshall home (longest serving Supreme Court judge).

Hiked around Great Falls on the Virginia side. Drove to the KOA North of Richmond.

Toured the National Museum of African American History near the Washington Monument. Took photos of the Whitehouse and Lafayette Square across Pennsylvania Ave.

Spent time filling my propane tank. Figure out how to use the new Silver line of the metro from Reston into the D.C. Mall. Viewed a demonstration on the mall concerning atrocities in Iran. Toward the East Wing (Modern) of The National Art Gallery. Toured the National Portrait Gallery.

Met up with Jane, my boss at The Brookings Institution. Visited the Phillips Gallery in the Dupont Circle area of Washington, D.C.

Photographed some scenes in the Fort Fredrick Campgrounds. Toured Fort Fredrick and met Patrick McGuire of “The History of Things” podcast. Hung out at The Hood College Library.

Hiked the Wolf Rock and Castle Rock trail at Catoctin Mountain National Park. Took a lot of photos of the fall leaves.

Lunch at sprouts and coffee at my favorite Starbuck. Photographed scenery on my way to Catoctin Mountain National Park. Stopped in the little town of Molkton on the way.

Coffee and blogging at Rise ‘N Grind Cafe waiting for the rain to stop. Hiked King and Queen Seats Trail at Rocks State Park, MD. Pasta dinner at Basta Pasta.

Morning at Starbucks and lunch at Sprouts supermarket. Scenic drive to Susquehanna State park. Hiked the Rock Run Grist Mill Trail. Met Kuniko a Ko-Shinto/Shinto Priestess.

Stayed in a Cracker Barrel parking lot. Mountain biked in the Maryland Patapsco Valley State Park.

Visited College Park Maryland. Went for a bike ride. Toured the campus. Ate at Bentley’s . Watched the Maryland / Northwestern game.

Drive from Dover, DE to Annapolis, MD. Walked the streets around the capital and went to the marina.

Toured the Dover, the capital of Delaware. Spent time walking around the commons and old town. Had lunch and turkish coffee at the Cobblestone Cafe. Got a tour of the Legislative Hall.
